DownDetector’s outage map shows Dallas and Chicago taking the brunt, while other cities like San Francisco and Boston may experience problems.

Approximately 41 percent of issue reports cited payments, 34 percent by application, and 24 percent by funds transfer.

Venmo allows users to send and receive money through its app and is considered one of the most popular of its kind.

The service has more than 91 million users, which is projected to reach over 97 million by 2025 – and 100 million users the following year.

The typical Venmo user makes five transactions per month, with an average transaction amount of $65 to $75.

Users affected by the outage have flocked to Elon Musk’s X to share their frustrations and see if others are experiencing issues.

Rick Matthews posted:Has @Venmo worked? I’ve never had any problems transferring money to date and now my app just hangs when I try to select an account to transfer to. People on Reddit say the same thing.’

‘Hello Venmo, are you currently experiencing problems with your app? I’m trying to transfer funds to my card or bank and it won’t let me do either. Although both are linked to my account. Please advise you,’ he shared.

The Venmo Support Page has not acknowledged the outage.

An X user claimed they called Venmo and the rep said the outage could last for several hours.
